                                                                The Drew Denton Memorial

The Drew Denton Memorial was built in 1965 in memory of "Drew Denton", who was a founder and charter member of the Bernalillo County Sheriffs Posse.  The headquarters of the first Posse clubhouse was located at Edith and El Pueblo NW.  When the highway department built "Passeo Del Norte" roadway, the Memorial was moved to its present location.

There is also a bronze statue located in the clubhouse that was to be mounted on top of the Memorial but was placed inside for safe keeping.  The Memorial was one of many items that was removed and placed in the current clubhouse before construction was completed in August 1988.  When Mr. Drew Denton passed away, it was decided to honor all past Posse members with a plaque commemorating their years of service to the Bernalillo County Sheriffs Posse.
