The Bernalillo County Sheriffs Posse was founded in 1951 and built their first headquarters at the corner of Edith and El Pueblo NW.  There was an arena also constructed at the same location and was used by most horse clubs/organizations throughout the county. Upon the construction of the Paseo Del Norte roadway the headquarters was demolished.  In August 1988 the new headquarters were dedicated at the present location, 10308 Second St NW and the BCSP will celebrate 20 years at this location in August 2008. Throughout the years the membership has worked to keep the BCSP in the forefront on horse and horsemanship related issues that affect the county.
